We're excited to share that generous friends and members of Citizens Church have pledged $64,000 toward our 2026 Matching Grant!
That means every gift made toward this year's grant will be doubled, up to $64,000, helping us raise at least $128,000 for gospel ministry in San Francisco.
As we reflect on this past year, we're grateful for the ways God has been growing our church. And we're eager to build on that growth, establishing deeper roots so that our ministry can bear fruit for years to come.
What has God been doing? A year of important growth.
Last year's Matching Grant helped Citizens take several significant steps forward. Through the generosity of our church members and friends, we've been able to:
Grow our team, hiring Jen Ning as our first Operations Coordinator to support our ministries, volunteers, and growing community.
Raise up new leaders, appointing two new elders to help shepherd our congregation.
Expand our gathering spaces, securing an indoor summer meeting space for the first time in six years, which led to visitors who became members.
Care for our staff, offering health benefits for the first time in our church's history.
Welcome more people, growing in both membership and regular Sunday attendance.
Grow in generosity, with regular member giving increasing by 15% so far in 2026.
These are more than organizational milestones. They represent people being welcomed, leaders being called, and a church becoming better equipped to serve its city.
We're deeply grateful for the generosity that has made these developments possible.
What’s next? Deepening roots and bearing fruit.
Over the past year, we've made significant investments in the life of our church. We've expanded our staff, strengthened our leadership, and created new opportunities for community and ministry. We've added both new members and leaders, and nearly every week we have conversations with visitors seeking faith.
We want to give these investments time to take root and bear lasting fruit.
After years of saving, last year we made the deliberate decision to invest ahead of our regular giving, budgeting to draw $60,000 from our financial reserves. We believed these investments were important for the future mission of our church, and we're already seeing encouraging results.
But growth takes time to become sustainable. While regular giving has increased significantly, it hasn't yet caught up with the expanded costs of ministry.
That's where this year's Matching Grant comes in. The $128,000 we hope to raise will lengthen the financial runway to sustain these investments while regular giving continues to grow.
Our hope is that this extraordinary generosity today will help Citizens become a healthier, more sustainable church for years to come.
